After a few weather-related delays the competition and eager crowds finally gathered in Shelburne where things got downright delicious during this year’s Lobster Chowder Chowdown Showdown.
Five fantastic restaurants from right here on Nova Scotia’s South Shore brought their best Lobster Chowder – Waves Seafood & Grill, 27 South Restaurant, Boxing Rock Brewing Company, The Emerald Light and returning champs Mr.Fish. Our judges/Lob’stars Heather and Faye along with Shelia from the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre were faced with the truly tasty and totally tricky task of picking a favourite and when their spoons were finally laid to rest – just 1 point separated 1st and 2nd Place. Talk about close!!! But now we can declare…
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Boxing Rock Brewing Co. – winners of the Golden Ladle for 2025!!! With honorable mention going to 27th South who finished a very close second.
All ticket holders could also try each chowder and vote for their favourite – and after the ballots were counted we can proclaim MASSIVE Congratulations to Waves Seafood & Grill on being the 2025 People’s Choice Winner!!

You’ve just gotta be in Birchtown for our Lobster Chowder Chowdown Showdown!!! Sure to be the most delicious day for all involved on Sunday, February 9th when 10 Remarkable Restaurants from all along Nova Scotia’s South Shore gather to present their most excellent entries. And as the name suggests this event is doubly delightful.
Chowdown! As ALL Ticket Holders will treated to a sensational sampling of all 10 Lobster Chowders.
Showdown! OH YES!!! All 10 Restaurants will be there in hopes of taking home the incredibly coveted GOLDEN LADLE Trophy.
TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW for the 2025 Lobster Chowder Chowdown Showdown happening at 1pm, Sunday, February 9th at the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre. Each ticket includes a sampling of chowder from our competitors, a freshly baked biscuit and a Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl Frisbee as a delightful souvenir!
